Just two weeks after I winged to silicon valley to attend Internet Identity Workshop X at Mountain View. The cause going there was to extend my knowledge about identity management, privacy, web security and what most important show for the first time sample UMA implementation we have develop in one month!
In the first day of IIW, User Managed Access Work Group chair: Eve Maler gave a presentation about UMA specification purpose and problems it tries to solve. It was place and time to demonstrate our working demo.
Next day it was IIW demo sessions day, where people gathered around about 15 tables and each table for one presentation team. We saved one table as well. :) Presentations on all tables proceed in parallel. The only tricky thing was that we need to show SMART advantages and purpose in 5 minutes for one group of listeners, as it was strict time for one demo, after that time people went to listen other sessions and new people came to us.
The third day Maciej Machulak presented our project in separate session, we were happy from interests of this talk and discussions.
Just after IIW X finished, there were OAuth 2.0 meeting in Facebook. We needed to be there with Maciej and we did as we extensively use it in our implementation. I was quite silent when great engineers from Google, Facebook, Twitter, Microsoft and number of other companies expressed they ideas and proposed directions OAuth should go. It was great experience for me even listen to them.
Thanks to courtesy of Alan Karp, SMART project came to HP Labs in Palo Alto, CA. I was very excited to talk to researchers that have significant impact on the IT future about UMA and the work we do at Newcastle. It was studious days at California, but this state has much more to offer than great opportunity for researchers.:)
It is grate place for travelling and leisure with great weather and beautiful views as well.
I took the opportunity of being there and enjoyed more than week driving, hiking, sunbathing and experiencing US. During my adventure there I visisted San Fransico with Golden State Park, nice cities in Bay Area including Oakland, San Jose, Mountain View with Stanford University (so amazing!!), enjoyed driving famous California Highway 1, met hungry bears family at Yosemite and used LA's sun and beaches.
Aloha:)
Aloha:)
